Unique among writing programs, Stanford offers ten two-year fellowships each year, five in fiction and five in poetry. All the fellows in each genre convene weekly in a 3-hour workshop with faculty.
Fellows are regarded as working artists, intent upon practicing and perfecting their craft. There are no curricular requirements other than workshop attendance and writing. The program offers no degree.
In awarding fellowships, we consider the quality of the candidate's creative work, potential for growth and ability to contribute to and profit from our writing workshops. The Writing Section Workshop: Introduction to Creative Writing & Travel Writing (Philippines)
Dates: 9 - 23 May 2011
The Writing Section, a private writing workshop for adults and teens, will be holding lectures on creative writing and travel writing. The classes, which will run through most of May, will be held at Black Ink Production Studios (Unit J, 154 Maginhawa St., Sikatuna Village in Quezon City).
Jose Wendell Capili, who has published six books and received Palanca, Cultural Center of the Philippines, UST and UP Gawad Chancellor awards for literature, will hold an introduction to creative writing workshop lecture on May 9, 11, 16, 18 and 23. Capili is a professor of creative writing and comparative literature in UP Diliman and is the Assistant Vice-President for Public Affairs and the Director of the Office of Alumni Affairs of the University of the Philippines System. He earned his degrees from UST, UP Diliman, University of Tokyo, University of Cambridge and The Research School of Pacific and Asian Studies at Australian National University.
Lucci Coral, who writes a travel column for the Manila Bulletin called "Wander Woman, will hold a five-day travel writing lecture on May 19, 24, 26, 31 and June 2. Coral started out as a writer for the Bulletin's Travel and Tourism section and as the assistant editor for the newspaper's monthly travel special. Later, she moved on to work for Travel Plus Magazine. Currently, she works as a writer and executive producer for travel show Where's Tony?, which airs on Studio 23.

Our ideal candidate must be confident with teaching students who are native English speakers and have at least 1 year of teaching experience. We are looking for an instructor with classroom presence, enthusiasm, and strong work ethic.

Recipients of the Sandesha Foundation Awards for Literature Announced
The city-based Sandesha Foundation for Culture and Education ®, functioning under the auspices of the Karnataka Regional Catholic Bishops’ Council, held a function for presenting the annual ‘Sandesha Awards 2011’ on Sunday February 13.
Mangalore Bishop, Dr Aloysius Paul D’Souza, will presidef over the function. Bishop of Bellary, Dr Henry D’Souza, who is the chairman of Sandesha Foundation, graced the occasion. Vice-chancellor of Mangalore University, Prof T C Shivashankara Murthy, was the chief guest.
Sandesha Awards, instituted by various organizations and individuals, were handed over to the following distinguished personalities, in recognition of their contributions to various fields, at the function.
Sandesha Kannada Literature Award: Dr Marulayya (80), presently living in Bangalore, who has authored 93 books covering all spheres of Kannada literature, has been chosen for this award. Besides being a gifted lecturer, he has also been a poet, novelist and journalist par excellence. He has received Rajyotsava, Kannada Sahitya Academy, and Arya Bhata Awards, among others. He has served as president and secretary of Kannada Sahtiya Parishat.
Sandesha Konkani Literature Award: Paul Moras (58), who has deeply studied Konkani language, Konkani folk dance and folk music, has published three books, Konkani Chalval, Jaagaran, and Mogrem Kaaran. Moras is also a Konkani activist and social worker, who took the initiative and leadership in organizing Konkani Jathas all over the state towards demanding inclusion of Konkani in the eighth schedule of the Constitution, and for the establishment of Konkani Sahitya Academy. Presently, he is the president of Karnataka Konkani Writers Forum. He has served as the president of Konkani Bhasha Mandal and All India Konkani Sahitya Parishat. Some of the awards conferred on him are, Mahan Konkani Karbari Award of Konkani Bhasha Mandal, district Rajyotsava Award, DR TMA Pai Award for his work, Konkani Chalval, and Konkani Sahtiya Academy Award for his work, Mogrem Kaaran.
Sandesha Tulu Literature Award: A distinguished personality, Kudkady Vishwanath Rai, who runs Vishwa Kala Niketan at Sullia Padavu in Puttur, has been picked for this award. Besides being a staunch supporter of Tulu cause, Rai, who has prowess even in the fields of Bharatnatyam and Carnatic music, has written 23 books in Tulu and Kannada. Rai has produced seven Tulu ballets, and seven more in Kannada. He has won Tulu Sahitya Academy Award, Karnataka Kalashri Award from Karnataka government. He was the president of Tulu Utsava held in Bahrain.

Arabic Creative Writing Instructor Needed at the University of Iowa
What we’re looking for is a published poet who can lead a writing workshop in Arabic for Arabic-speaking high school students.
Here are the major tasks, abbreviated. Everything takes place in July except where noted.
· Assist with student selection process (March or possibly April)
· Teach one introductory workshop session with selected students online (May; this really depends on students’ Internet access)
· Co-teach the Arabic-language workshop with another writer-teacher (currently we’ve got Khaled Khalifa tentatively signed on)
· Meet with students as needed
· Assist with editing of the student anthology
· Participate in a reading with the other teacher as part of the Iowa City Book Festival
· Write a report of no more than 2 pages listing what worked, what didn’t, and suggestions for improvement (August)
We pay all July travel and lodging expenses, plus an honorarium and per diem.

These enable academics, writers and translators to spend between two and three months at selected universities where they can devote themselves to their own work and to interacting with colleagues.
There are ten fellowships. Each is intended to be mutually beneficial. The fellow is expected to contribute to the life of the host institution eg by leading a seminar in which they present their research or writing.
Fellows are selected by agreement between the host institution and CWIT. In most cases applications should be made direct to the university ( see below for general guidance but also go to the links to the universities)

Two fellowships for visual artists focused on technological kinetic art including sound sculpture, performance and, in general art that incorporates time, movement, motion and change. Preference will be given to work that draws its form, content and materials from current technology.
Civil Society Institute (CSI)
One award for an east coast minority artist with demonstrable financial need; preference will be given to artists from New Haven, Jersey City, and Baltimore. The $25 application fee is waived for eligible CSI applicants. Award includes a $500 travel stipend.
Dedalus Foundation Fellowships
Three fellowships for painters working in the modernist tradition.
Gihon River Collective Fellowship
One award for an outstanding visual artist or writer who is a current resident of the United Kingdom (at least 2 years). Funding for this award was raised by VSC September 2009 Alumni at their London show in 2010.
Harpo Foundation Native American Fellowships
Two fellowship awards open to Native American artists living in the U.S. based on the strength and quality of their work. Includes a $500 travel stipend.
Joan Mitchell Foundation
Ten fellowship awards open to visual artists of outstanding talent and demonstrated financial need are supported by the Joan Mitchell Foundation.
Kay Evans Award
One 2-week merit-based award open to all poets; created in honor of Maine poet Kay Evans by her friends and family.
Pollock-Krasner
In 2011, the Pollock-Krasner Foundation/VSC Fellowship Program for visual artists of outstanding talent will support two to four 4-week residencies for domestic artists.
Wheels for Wheels Award
One fellowship open to an artist or writer who uses a wheelchair and/or has a spinal cord injury.
Helen Zell Residency Fellowship
One fellowship for a University of Michigan MFA candidate in poetry between his/her first or second year.
Zoland Poetry Fellowships
Offered in conjunction with Zoland Poetry, these 2 annual Fellowships are open to writers of original English-language poetry (1) and to translators (1). Poets should submit a manuscript according to guidelines on the Apply page; translators should submit 3 copies of the original poems/translations, along with a description of English-language rights, author bio, and translator CV.

Residencies at the Vermont Studio Center are offered based on a review of the portfolio or manuscript submitted by each applicant. The Artists Residency Program is to provide support for individual artists as well as cultural and art organizations. Application for residence will be occasionally carried and applicants will be selected through our screening process.

Matters to be attended to in residency:
The relationship between the selected artist and Seoul Art Space Yeonhui is laid down in contract. Candidates who are accepted can only use the residency and facilities.
You need to pay monthly free of 5,500 won per 3.3m2 (including VAT) for a writing studio.
You should use a writing studio 15 days minimum a month.
You should participate actively in some programs which are run by Seoul Art Space Yeonhui.

The Charles Wallace Pakistan Trust Fellowship Programme is designed to provide assistance to individuals who wish to broaden their experience or improve their skills through a short-term attachment at a UK university or training institution in the following subjects:

I Heart Board Games! is looking to expand their team. We are looking to hire Speech and Drama / Creative Writing teachers.
* Trainer's duties will include running language enrichment and Speech and Drama programmes and assisting in curriculum development.
* Trainers must have at least a Diploma or Degree in Mass Communications, Film, Drama, English or other relevant fields. Speech and drama/creative writing experience preferred but not necessary. Possess excellent interpersonal, communication, presentation and organizational skills.
* Applicants must be proficient in English (both written and spoken).
* Trainers must commit to the full duration of the contract.
