Monthly Basic Salary for Teaching Assistant: HK$15,875 - HK$24,255 plus Monthly Composite Cash Allowance (5% of the Monthly Basic Salary, capped at $997)
Duties
The appointee(s) at the Lecturer level will be responsible for the course planning, development, coordination and delivery (including classroom teaching) in related disciplines at the undergraduate level. He/she will also be required to engage in scholarly activities as well as participate in School/University activities and administration.
The appointee(s) at the Assistant Lecturer level will be responsible for providing assistance in course planning and development, as well as undertaking course coordination and delivery (including classroom teaching) in related disciplines at the undergraduate level. He/she will be expected to participate in scholarly activities and School/University activities.
The appointee(s) at the Teaching Assistant level will be responsible for providing assistance in course planning, development, coordination and delivery, and where necessary, undertake classroom teaching in related disciplines at the undergraduate level. He/she will also be expected to participate in School/University activities.
Requirements
Applicants for Lecturer should have a higher degree, preferably an earned doctorate, in literature, film studies or a related discipline. They should have relevant teaching experience.
Applicants for Assistant Lecturer should have a higher degree in literature, film studies or a related discipline. Relevant teaching experience is preferred.
Applicants for Teaching Assistant should have a recognized bachelor’s degree, preferably a higher degree, in literature, film studies or a related discipline. Relevant teaching experience will be an advantage.
Applicants for Lecturer/Assistant Lecturer/Teaching Assistant should have a good command of English and Chinese, preferably including Putonghua. Publications in the following will be an advantage: Film Arts (電影藝術), Drama (戲劇文類), World Cinema and Arts (世界電影藝術), Film/TV Adaptations of Chinese Classics (中國古典名著及影視改編), Creative Writing (創意寫作坊), Film Masters (電影大師欣賞), Radio Play (廣播劇創作與研究), Chinese-language Cinemas (華語電影), Literature and Visual Culture (文學寫作與視覺文化), News and Documentary (新聞與紀錄片), and Film and Literature (文學與電影). Experience in supervising undergraduate projects in Short Screenplays, Fiction Writing, Film Studies (電影短片劇本/小說寫作/電影研究) will be considered.
Terms of Appointment
For post I, appointment will initially be made on a 2-year contract, subject to renewal by mutual consent. Remuneration package includes monthly basic salary, monthly composite cash allowance, annual leave, medical & dental benefits, life insurance and contract-end gratuity (inclusive of such statutory benefits as the Mandatory Provident Fund).
For post II, appointment will initially be made on either a 1-year or 2-year contract, subject to renewal by mutual consent. Remuneration package includes monthly basic salary, annual leave, medical & dental benefits and contract-end gratuity (inclusive of such statutory benefits as the Mandatory Provident Fund). The monthly composite cash allowance is applicable to a 2-year contract only.
