Job Description
The School of General Studies, GIST College, is recruiting ONE native English speaker to teach Writing for Science and Engineering Students for one year from March 2011 through February 2012.
Qualifications
- Native speaker of English
- MA
- Able to teach Writing for Science and Engineering Students to college-level students and provide feedback and corrections to help improve their English writing skills
* Given the nature of the subject, applicants with relevant degrees or teaching experience will be greatly preferred.
Job Description
- Duration of contract: March 1, 2011 to February 29, 2012 (renewable upon agreement)
- Location: GIST College, Oryong-dong, Bukgu, Gwangju, Korea
- Monthly Salary: 2.6 million KRW (with overtime pay at 30,000 KRW per hour)
(Salary can be commensurate with the applicant‚s experience and outstanding qualifications.)
- Shared health insurance
- Housing: A single dormitory room on the GIST campus
- Duties: Teaching 9 units (3 sections) of Writing for Science and Engineering Students classes during the regular semesters (including curriculum development, evaluation and correction of students‚ writing) and minimum 2 office hours per section for one-on-one writing guidance*; and teaching the 4-week intensive winter English camp in January-February 2012
* The total hours and schedule may be adjusted according to the number of sections offered.
- Student level: intermediate to high intermediate
- Airfare: Free round-trip air tickets for a visa run when necessary
