Nhan Dan Newspaper Rural Writing Contest (Vietnam)
Deadline: 21 January 2014

The Nhan Dan (People) newspaper launched a writing contest on the topic of agriculture, farmers and rural areas on March 18 in response to Resolution No. 26-NQ/T.Ư of the Party Central Committee (10th tenure) on the issues and the Government’s National Target Programme on Building New Rural Areas.

Since its first competition in 2011, the contest has contributed significantly to improving the quality of communication on the issues in the Party’s publications.

The entries can be written in a wide variety of genres including reportages, social criticism, notes or photo stories and should use clear and concise language. Their topics should focus on discovering and honouring exemplary role models who have contributed to alleviating hunger, reducing poverty, building new rural areas or boosting agricultural production.

Entries should be submitted to Nhan Dan Newspaper, No.71 Hang Trong street in Hanoi or via email at bannongnghiep@gmail.com no latter than January 31, 2014.

An awards ceremony honouring the winning works will be held in March of next year as part of the festivities to mark the 63 years since Nhan Dan newspaper published its first issue (1951-2014).

The contest is being held in co-ordination with the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development, the Vietnam Farmers’ Association and the Vietnam National Oil and Gas Group (PetroVietnam). Last year’s event attracted around 300 entries from contestants across the country.
