Dates: 05 April - 08 April 2011
Brussels & Frankfurt (ECFIN 2011)
Via amic.org.sg: Travel and accommodation is sponsored by European Journalism Centre. Journalists from China, Hong Kong, Japan, Korea and Taiwan are eligible to apply.

Over the last ten years, the euro has achieved a generally accepted status as a leading currency, presenting economic policy makers with unprecedented opportunities and challenging the US dollar as the world’s top reserve currency.
Despite the global financial turmoil, the European currency has maintained a relative stability and a high exchange rate against other leading currencies. Yet it will have to face many challenges in the years to come.
The global role of the euro will be the focus of a four-day seminar tailored especially for journalists coming from Asian countries and organised by the European Journalism Centre, in co-operation with DG Economic and Financial Affairs of the European Commission.
Held in Brussels & Frankfurt, the participants will have the chance to meet and discuss with EU officials, external experts and attend the press conference of the President of the ECB, Mr. Jean-Claude Trichet, following the Governing Council meeting of the European Central Bank in Frankfurt.
