Vacancy: News Editor for a Leading Media Company in Oman
Job Description

1. Selection of best news items through constant copy testing
2. Section-wise strategic planning of the newspaper’s editorial content
3. Take the right decision on displaying any news item through proper news judgment
4. Give good headlines/sub-headlines/breakers/kickers and all other news elements
5. Ensure adherence to the media laws and regulations of Oman and the region
6. Ensure adherence to the local and regional protocols
7. Plan well-designed pages by giving good displays to stories according to their merit
8. Take extra effort to put visual elements — photos, charts, graphics — into the copy
9. Meet deadlines.
10. To bring special reports/stories to the newspaper regularly.
11. Planning news/brand campaigns.
12. Rewriting press releases/handouts to effectively indigenize the content.
13. Proven ability to think visually.
14. Taking extra efforts to define new beats and cover them
