The Writer's Workshop

There are lots of resources available to writers who want to keep track of places to submit. Some are, of course, better than others. Some cost a lot to keep up with, and some are absolutely free. One of the places I keep track of pretty much every day is AsiaWrites. Not only is it specific to the region I live in, but it has brought a whole lot of leads my way, both for paying work and for more creative endeavors that are about something other than the amount of money they bring in. In addition, AsiaWrites publishes creative writing. A few of my poems have appeared there, and I count it a real honor to see my work appearing alongside the other fine quality pieces that AsiaWrites publishes.

Forbes India

On any given day, Asia Writes, an “up-to-date resource for writers in the Asia Pacific region or of Asian origin”, receives hundreds of calls for submissions from literary journals, both print and online. These they tweet or post for their “followers” — not members of some terribly secretive and archaic cult, but aspiring writers living in the region and beyond. The network ... is rapidly growing, accurately reflecting how propagative the journal scene is.

Poetically Challenged

Asia Writes is a site that offers both an excellent resource and a great read. You can find poetry and fiction by Asian (or “semi-Asian”) writers that is always great for browsing through. In addition, you can find announcements, job listings, and calls for submissions for writers living in the region. It’s really a great site to visit, with loads of good information that is regularly updated. Stop in and have a look — and be prepared to spend a while there. It’s really worth the time.
