"Cultural Asian Festival" project of 7th AWG Astana-Almaty 2011 celebrates a start of International Arts & Essay Competition on September 1 under auspices of OCA Education and Culture Committee. The Organiser of this competition is Astana city Direction for Arrangements of 7th Asian Winter Games.

Arts and Essay contest is a project through which Asia's youth can display their knowledge of the 7th Asian Winter Games 2011 and express their ideas on themes of the competition. Terms of the competition also provide an opportunity to exchange artworks and essays, thus the project will benefit to the development of intercultural relations across countries of Asian continent. The contest gives a chance for participants to show national culture of their country, devotion to the sport and art.

The Organising Committee of the 7th Asian Winter Games should be congratulated on their decision to organise an Art and Essay Competition in connection with these Games. Art and Culture have been an integral part of the Olympic Games and Olympic Sport and Art Competitions have been organized with every Olympiad. Such Competitions strengthen the link between Literature and Sport.

In the circumstances the Art and Essay competition held in conjunction with the 7th Asian Winter Games deserves our fullest cooperation and support. "I do hope that all Olympic Committees in Asia will respond positively and make this a success." commented Chairman of OCA Education and Culture Committee - Mr Fernando Hemasiri in his speech to participants.

Arts and Essay contest of 7th Asian Winter Games has a mission to draw the attention and interest of both children and teenagers of Kazakhstan and Asia as a whole to the culture, sport and healthy lifestyle. Prospective participants should be aged 7-16 to take part in the project. These competitions seek for the submissions that possess original ideas and personal view on Asian Games.

Astana - the capital of Kazakhstan; Astana/Almaty - host cities of 7th Asian Winter Games

The submission period for entries will end on November 1, 2010. Citizens of Kazakhstan may address works directly to the OrgCommittee of the competition. Foreign citizens of Asian countries are required to submit the works through National Olympic Committee of their country.

On December 27, 2010 on the official website of Organiser, judging panel comprised of representatives from OrgCommittee and OCA Education and Culture Committee will announce the winners of the competition.

Participants will be awarded with certificates, games souvenirs and other memorable presents by Organisers.

Four first prisz winners will be invited to the grand opening ceremony of the Games on January 30, 2011 in Astana. Winners and their accompanying person are invited to participate in all events during 7th Asian Winter Games 2011 from January 30 to February 6, 2011.
