REPORTER - Middle East Broadcasting Networks, Inc

Job Location: Beirut, Lebanon

1. Leverage knowledge of assigned beats to bring relevant and significant story proposals to meetings.
2. Conduct interviews with news sources having a wide variety of views and expertise.
3. Evaluate and analyze leads and tips to develop story ideas.
4. Cultivate and maintain credible news sources.
5. Write scripts and oversee production to ensure broadcast quality of stories and reports.
6. Present live or taped interviews and voice-over reports in studio or field.
7. Update previously reported stories.
8. Develop original, imaginative and creative ways to tell/show news stories.
9. Coordinate coverage with Producers, Cameraman, Editors and news management.
10. Meet deadlines.
11. Develop original story ideas for features and special events consistent with the company’s mission.
12. Report breaking news with accuracy and urgency.
13. Edit or assist in editing videos for broadcast.
14. Check reports for balance, clarity, and objectivity to ensure they are free of bias and advocacy.
15. Read and edit news copy to ensure that it contains no slanderous content.
16. Work quickly and accurately.
17. Maintain knowledge and understanding of world events.
18. Conduct research.
19. Adapt quickly to changing priorities and breaking news.

Skills

• College degree in Journalism or a related field preferred.
• 5 year previous experience as an on-camera reporter.
• Exceptional on-camera talent; look and personality required.
• Skilled reader, adept to ad-libbing and ability to handle on-air problems.
• A working knowledge of topics and events relating to the field.
• Knowledge of story development and reporting in a clear, concise and accurate manner.
• Ability to prioritize and make quick decisions.
• Ability to communicate and translate from English to Classic Arabic or Standard Arabic
• Must be able to demonstrate discretion, maturity and composure especially under pressure.
• Superior story writing and storytelling ability.
• Good creative and editorial judgment. Mastery of journalistic ethics and libel laws.
• Proficient with internet, database and computer assisted reporting techniques.
• Strong attention to detail.
• Able to work effectively with all levels of management and staff in a professional manner
• Exercise self-discipline and time-management skills.
• Accommodate flexible hours including nights, weekends, holidays and irregular hours at a moment’s notice
