2011 Agha Shahid Ali Poetry Scholarship at the FAWC Creative Writing Workshop (USA)

2011 Agha Shahid Ali Poetry Scholarship at the FAWC Creative Writing Workshop (USA)
Deadline: 18 April 2011

Here at the Fine Arts Work Center, we believe the arts are the lifeblood of our society, and that the best catalyst for artistic growth is space and time to pursue independent work while surrounded by like-minded peers.

Weekend and weeklong workshops, led by some of the most respected and renowned artists and writers working today, offer opportunities to develop craft and hone skills.

Visual arts studios and the writing lab are open around the clock, available whenever the mood or muse visits. Students, staff and faculty form a supportive and inspiring community, and the combination of creative writers and visual artists paves the way for cross-genre dialogue and collaboration.

Situated at the tip of Cape Cod’s curling finger, Provincetown is surrounded by miles of rolling dunes and long sandy beaches. The town’s important heritage as the nation’s oldest continuous arts colony enhances the FAWC experience immeasurably—here you’ll find galleries, museums, theater, writers scribbling in cafes and artists painting in the streets. You’ll also have access to the pleasures of the perfect summer vacation: swimming, sailing, bike trails, shops, dance clubs, whale watch trips, dune tours and live music.
