The Writer and Editor will work as part of the ICICI Foundation Communications Team to support ICICI Foundation’s overall editorial direction. He/she will be chiefly responsible for writing, editing and producing high quality content for all communications platforms. He/she will report to the Communications Manager.

Excellent writing and editing skills, along with the confidence and tact required to work effectively with colleagues and stakeholders at all levels of seniority are essential. A demonstrated understanding of development issues is also required.

Occasional travel to project sites to meet with stakeholders (local authorities, partners, community members, etc.) will be required.

Responsibilities

* Research, write and produce content for newsletters, website, reports, social media channels, communications campaigns, press releases, annual reports and other assignments as requested
* Edit and proofread content to check and correct for grammar, article structure, content, document format and writing style and tone errors
* Maintain highest editorial standards, including consistency and accuracy across all platforms
* Undertake reporting and interviewing assignments as required
* Play an active role in the team responsible for ICICI Foundation’s overall editorial direction
* Participate in team and organisational development activities; show enthusiasm about new streams of work and work towards acquiring new skills

Desired Qualifications

* Bachelor’s degree or diploma in mass communications, journalism, international relations or a related field
* Excellent knowledge of English and first-class writing skills
* 3-5 years of experience in journalism or communications, including experience producing articles, short features and reports in a variety of styles for diverse audiences
* Experience/background in development sector will be preferred. Understanding of development issues, particularly health, education and access to finance is an asset.
* Excellent sense of design and ability to work with external vendors/designers to produce the complete product
* Ability to manage in a fast-paced and deadline-driven environment
* Demonstrated experience in writing and editing for web platforms and in strategically employing social media
* Must be able to create high quality and unique content independently, with little or no guidance
* Confident when working independently or as part of a team
* Proven computer literacy with high proficiency using MS Office including PowerPoint
