Job Summary
To generate exclusive news and analysis for Complinet's daily Retail News and Analysis service by researching issues, liaising with contacts and clients, attending events, conferences and other industry functions. Generating insurance and asset management related news from external sources and internal research and to support the commercial goals of the company by ensuring written materials are of the highest calibre.
The successful candidate will be expected to generate a number of stories each day and to be able to turn their hand quickly to developing stories in the fast moving regulatory world.
Major/Key Activities
· To develop and investigate story ideas primarily for the retail financial services sector
· Maintain a network of contacts within the financial services industry with a view to producing features and original stories
· Managing the freelance contributions to the site
· Writing features for the Complinet sites
· In conjunction with the Managing Editor, responsible for developing the editorial strategy and agenda for the retail content stream
· To develop the skills and ability others in the editorial department by providing mentoring, training advice and so on
· Liaising with other departments such as events, training, recruitment and sales on a regular basis
· Attending external events and conferences and to ensure that industry and sector knowledge is retained and enhanced
· Helping to identify new products and new target audiences for Complinet
Essential Skills/Knowledge
· Proven track record as a high quality writer able to deliver on time and to required standard.
· Minimum two years' experience as a reporter/journalist in the b2b field
· Typing minimum 40 wpm and Word
· Self-motivated and versatile
· Good judgement
· Good organisational skills
· Impeccable time-keeping meeting all deadlines through effective prioritisation
· Inquisitive and investigative
· Ability to network/build contacts and existing good contact base with existing trade associations and the regulator
· Knowledge of Insurance and retail financial services sectors
· NCTJ or other recognised journalism qualification and/or Proofreading and shorthand skills are desirable
Key Performance Measures
* Teams delivery of accurate and timely news stories and related content
* Timeliness and adherence to deadlines in line with subscriber demands.
* Ability to turn external content into quality, readable and practical news
