Overview

Editorial services company that works with major educational publishers is seeking highly skilled writers (preferrably in Arabic but will also consider experts who write in English) who have a firm grasp of Islamic Studies, Arabic grammar/usage, and/or social studies of the Middle East/Gulf region for an upcoming project developing assessment materials for high-school students. All work will be done remotely, so you must be highly reliable and able to work independently. ALL CANDIDATES MUST BE ABLE TO READ ARABIC.

This is a fast-paced project, so successful candidates must be willing to work some weekends as needed. The project begins immediately and runs through the end of the year.

How to Apply

All candidates must be college graduates and have extensive experience writing and can either write in Arabic about Islamic Studies, Social Studies, and/or Arabic language(grammar/usage). All candidates must have a firm grasp of English. Graduate students and native Arabic speakers are encouraged to apply.

Applications will NOT be accepted from anyone living outside the United States. You must be legally eligible to work in the U.S.

Interested candidates should submit a cover letter, a writing sample in Arabic and in English in a single Word (2003) document, and a resume to the address above for immediate consideration.

Candidates passing through resume review may be asked to provide an additional writing sample based on a sample request we provide.

Skills

# mastery of the Arabic language (writing, reading, and speaking) OR English language and Islamic Studies/social studies of Middle East
# ability to work independently (off-site)
# ability to work on weekends as needed
# experience in educational publishing (not required but preferred)
# ability to use ftp, servers, etc., to transmit files
