Children - The Future of Afghanistan Poetry Competition

· First Prize: 10,000 AFN
· Second Prize: 7, 500 AFN
· Third Prize: 5,000 AFN

Deadline for submission: 1 November, 2010

The Delegation of the European Union to Afghanistan launches a poetry competition for young Afghans between the ages of 14 – 17 on the theme of "Children – The Future of Afghanistan." Interested amateur poets are invited to send their poems on this theme to the address mentioned below. The three best poems will be selected by members of a jury for the First, Second and Third prize.

Prizes will be in cash and the winner will receive the title of Best Young Afghan Poet of the Year on the theme!

Interested participants should submit maximum 2 poems either in Dari or Pashtu to the email address: ali-madad.azimi@ec.europa.eu or hard copies to the below address. Please put 'Poetry Competition 2010' in subject. No submission after 1 November 2010 will be accepted. Note that the pieces submitted should be maximum 10-15 lines each.
