The Korea Times and the Northeast Asian History Foundation invite foreigners as well as Koreans to participate in an English-language essay contest on how to realize an East Asian community in the 21st century when reconciliation and communications are given top priority.
Applicants are required to submit an essay under the theme of "What can we do to realize an East-Asian community in this 21st century of reconciliation and communication?" The essay should be about 900 words in length. Completed works should be emailed to lim@koreatimes.co.kr no later than Oct. 21, along with a brief introduction about themselves and a passport-size color photo in jpg format.
The contest is co-organized by The Korea Times and the Northeast Asian History Foundation.
The winners will be announced on Oct. 30 and will be individually informed of the schedule for the awarding ceremony.
The contest will give out a total of six winners: one Gold Prize winner, two Silver Prize winners, and three Bronze Prize winners. The Gold Prize winner will receive 1 million won in prize money and plaque. The two Silver Prize winners will each be given 500,000 won and a plaque, while three Bronze Prize winners will each receive 300,000 won and a plaque. This year, we have newly added six notable mentions, who will receive a 50,000-won cultural goods coupon.
