Deadline: 17 September 2010
Departures has given us a chance to meet amazing people in the communities we visit: writers, artists, inventors, politicians, photographers. We enjoyed their company so much that we wanted to share a bit of them through our Community giveaways. Every few weeks we'll give you, the community, a gift from one of these amazing people: it can be a dinner, a book, a tour, you name it… But there’s one catch: you need to tell us stories, upload photos or make videos in order to qualify.
Chinatown is all about food: duck, dim sum, shark fin, noodles. Share your best food memory of Chinatown by uploading photos, videos or text and you might win a dinner for six at Empress Pavilion, plus a tour of the kitchen led by none other than Ken Poon, the restaurant's idiosyncratic manager.
CONTEST END DATE - September 17th, 2010: 11:59 PM
About Empress Pavilion:
The restaurant opened its doors more than three decades ago and since has charmed visitors and locals alike by highlighting the importance of shared experiences and culture through traditional Chinese Dim Sum. Translated from Cantonese to English, Dim Sum can be understood as "something from the heart". Winners will get to meet Ken Poon, the restaurant's manager, who will share his passion about dim sum culture, as well as how he manages business that serves up to 2000 meals per weekend.
