Paying Market: Bound Off (Monthly Literary Magazine)

30 August 2010
Paying Market: Bound Off (Monthly Literary Magazine)
Deadline: open
Eligibility: no restrictions
Reading Fee: none
Accepts (genre): short stories
Prize/Payment: $20 per contracted story

Bound Off wants to read your best short stories out loud! We are seeking original literary fiction for our upcoming podcasts. Please send stories that are between 250 and 2500 words long. Although we are an audio publication, we will evaluate manuscripts the old-fashioned way.

Our team of readers and podcast engineers will produce the audio version of your story. If you have the capability to create a high-quality MP3 file, then we could publish your story with you as the reader. (Although we aim to give authors the chance to read their own work, audio quality is a high priority, so the Bound Off editors reserve the right to make all final audio production decisions.)

We are not considering the following types of writing: non-fiction or personal essays, poetry, stories for children.

Format your subject line like this:

Submission, Last Name, Title

Paste the text of your story within the body of the message (all attachments will be deleted; do not send audio files). A short cover letter is optional. Very important: Tell us the read-out-loud time of your story and the word count at the top of your message. Include your full name, address, and phone number as well. E-mail your submission to: submissions@boundoff.com

We allow simultaneous submissions, but let us know immediately if another publication accepts your story. Please wait until we have responded before sending us another story for consideration. We try to respond to all submissions within one month. If two months have passed since you sent us a story, feel free to query us about its status (at the submissions address).

We compensate writers $20 per contracted story. Stories submitted to Bound Off must be original and previously unpublished in any form. Questions? Write to: inquiry@boundoff.com
