An essay and poetry competition in Tamil on "Freedom from illness" ahead of the Independence Day celebrations is being organised by the department of surgical gastroenterology, Madras Medical College, GH and the Department of Health and Family Welfare.
The essay competition is meant for college students and the poetry competition is open to all. The essay, in not more than 500 words, can dwell upon any aspect of positive lifestyle, diet and healthy behaviour. The entries can be submitted by post or in person to Dr S M Chandramohan, Professor and Head of Surgical Gastroenterology, room 245B, 2nd tower, 4th floor, Government GH, Chennai3, on or before July 20. The results will be announced at the end of the first week of August and the prizes will be given away at a function to be held on Independence Day at the MMC.
