The School of Communications seeks candidates for a non-tenure track appointment of Visiting Assistant Professor in the area of Journalism. This is a one-year (9-month), full-time contract, renewable for up to three years, beginning mid-August 2010. A doctorate in journalism, communication, or comparable area preferred and professional print journalism experience (3+ years) required. Master's with significant professional journalism experience (5+ years) will be considered. Preference will be given to candidates with professional experience in public affairs reporting and proficiency in online, multimedia, news-delivery technologies. A record of scholarly/professional publication and a record of demonstrated excellence in teaching preferred. Teaching obligation will be introductory news
reporting/writing and other courses across the journalism curriculum, depending on area(s) of specialty. Teaching load is four courses per semester. Salary is up to $35,000.
