Background:
Texas Bound is part of Arts & Letters Live, the literary and performing arts series entering its 20th season in 2011. Texas Bound programs feature readings by Texas actors of short fiction by Texas-connected authors. Notable authors featured in past programs include Sarah Bird, Oscar Casares, John Bloom, Larry L. King, Steve Martin, Sandra Cisneros, Shelby Hearon, John Graves, Larry McMurtry, and Tim O’Brien. Well-known actors participating in Texas Bound have included Tommy Lee Jones, Kathy Bates, Marcia Gay Harden, Larry Hagman, Doris Roberts, Thomas Gibson, Brad Leland, and G.W. Bailey. The programs take place on four evenings in Dallas and occasionally on tour in other cities during Arts & Letters Live’s programming season (January through June). The average attendance for each evening is 400–600 people. Typically three or four stories are read at each performance. The audience is warm and supportive and open to some challenging material. Texas Bound presents a range of fiction, from light-hearted and comic stories to dramatic narratives.

Authors whose submissions are selected will receive a $150 honorarium, complimentary tickets to the reading
