H20 Adventure Writing Contest

Aspiring writers are invited to enter the 2010 Arapahoe Library District writing contest. Open to all ages, the contest takes place this year from June 5-July 10. The theme, "H2O Adventure" promises to inspire oceans of ideas. Use one of the following prompts to get started: "If I could sail anywhere, it would be..." "I really made a splash when I..." Or, feel free to create your own introduction. Read more here.

Win $100 for your first sentence

Use the form here or send your first sentence in the body of an email message (no attachments, please) from an historical mystery, suspense, action/adventure or thriller to zara@zaraaltair.com. This should be your own work. The first prize will be $100 to the most engaging and memorable first sentence submitted. Your sentence should engage the reader immediately and draw us into the story. Also, you will be setting the tone for the story. More than likely you will introduce us to your main character but this is not required. Cut-off for submissions is midnight May 15.

Chinatown Los Angeles Creative Writing Competition
SUBMISSION DEADLINE: May 5th at 5:00pm

Writing contest topic: Write about the rich history and culture of the Los Angeles Asian & Pacific-Islander American Community and what it means to you. Participation requires the creation of an original written work inspired by the contest topic and is open to all youth in grades 6-12 within Los Angeles County.
