Guidelines for candidates
The competition is open to young Iraqi Journalists, between the ages 20 and 35. Candidates are welcome to apply regardless of their sex, ethnicity or religious background. They must currently be based in Iraq and working for written press, TV, radio or online media.
To apply, the candidate should fill in the online form, upload a published article or a radio/TV broadcast related to the promotion of inter-cultural dialogue, and include a short summary in English as well as a letter of motivation.
An excellent knowledge of English is required. Knowledge of French or other languages will be considered as an asset.
The deadline for applications is 30th April 2011, midnight (CET +1).
An international jury will evaluate the applications submitted by the journalists and nominate the winner, who will be awarded a 3 month sponsored fellowship in Brussels (not to be prolonged).
The fellowship is granted to the winner only and will not be extended to family members.
For the three-month fellowship the European Journalism Centre (EJC) will contribute by offering:
* Administrative and technical support for the competition
* The selection of the jury members
* A return flight ticket from Baghdad/Brussels/Baghdad
* The reimbursement of the cost of the visa
* The reimbursement of medical insurance
* Accommodation
* An office space at the International Press Centre - Residence Palace
* A daily allowance
* Assistance with meeting the journalist community in Brussels
