Job Description

In charge of all operations of a Middle East version of an international magazine, reports to senior management. Manages the editorial team, acts as a public representative of the publication, makes sure the editorial policy is carried out, and is responsible for the editorial budget. Expected to have a strong command of language, grammar, and writing and understands the magazine’s writing style, journalism ethics, and has thorough knowledge of the publication process and a strong understanding of Arab lifestyle subjects. A good understanding and willingness to study the brand’s taste, ethics, and guidelines is key. Desired Skills & Experience

Must be meticulous with copy-editing, fact checking, spellings, grammar, language, etc. Also responsible for motivating and developing the team.

Must have a heavy editing background. Must exceed regular Editor-in-Chief expectations as she/he will run a small team in which she/he must be more heads-on and be involved in doing some of the work itself and drive the team to produce the same quality and quantity of work that is regularly expected from a much larger team.

Must be bilingual (English & Arabic) confident, Arab with at least 7+ years publishing/magazine experience and at least 3+ years in senior editing positions. Must have strong drive, great leadership skills, and work within very tight deadlines.

Must provide writing samples. An interest or experience in arts and crafts is preferred.
