2013 Srinivas Rayaprol Poetry Prize | Call for entries | Rs. 10,000 top prize | India

Entries are invited from young poets in India writing in English for the fifth Srinivas Rayaprol Poetry Prize.

The Prize was instituted by the Srinivas Rayaprol Literary Trust to recognize excellence in poetry written in English and is being administered jointly by the Department of English, University of Hyderabad. The prize consisting of a cash award of Rs.10,000 and a citation will be presented at a literary event in Hyderabad in the month of October 2013. The entries will be judged by a distinguished jury of poets and literary personalities.

Entries are invited from Indian citizens between 20-40 years and writing poetry in English.

  • Three (3) different, unpublished poems written by the applicant;
  • Evidence of age; Scanned copy of passport/driver’s license/pan card/voter id/aadhar
  • Complete contact information (including phone numbers and email addresses).
Note: Please do not put your name on the poems to be submitted to the jury members.

2013 - 2014 Charles Pick Creative Writing Fellowship | Call for applications | South Asia

The Charles Pick South Asian Fellowship is a six-month residential creative writing fellowship with an award of £10,000. The fellowship began in October 2002.

The Charles Pick South Asian Fellowship seeks to encourage the spirit of writing by giving support to the work of a new and, as yet, unpublished writer of fictional or non-fictional prose based in South Asia. The writer should be from South Asia (Afghanistan, Bangladesh, Bhutan, India, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Maldives, Burma/Myanmar, Nepal, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, Turkmenistan, Tajikistan, Uzbekistan), but does not need to be domiciled there.

Application forms must be submitted with an original typescript of 2,500 words. All applicants must provide a reference from an editor, agent or accredited teacher of creative writing.

2013 NUHA Foundation Writing Competition | £150 top prize | worldwide

Whether you're from Mauritius, Mexico or Malaysia, we would like to hear what YOU have to say about 'education'. The competition has been established as an international platform to debate issues of education and development.

Absolutely anyone can participate, and three prizes are on offer:
  • Young Writers Prize, for those born between 1999 and 2003: £50
  • Youth Prize, for those born between 1995 and 1998: £100
  • Adult Prize, for those born before 1995: £150
It doesn't matter whether English is the authors' first, second, third or fourth language: articles are judged first and foremost on the quality of their argument and the originality of their ideas. To achieve this, the authors have to respond to one of the set statements within a 500 to 1,500 word-limit, by 1 November 2013.

The Literary Yard is an e-journal that aims at identifying and featuring the best literary works awaiting publication. The idea is to tender budding as well as established authors a constructive platform which helps them to reach out to a mass audience.
