Submissions are currently being accepted for an anthology of writings from St. Louis writers for a new book entitled, Winter Harvest: Jewish Writing in St. Louis. This publication, edited by Howard Schwartz, author and professor of English at the University of Missouri-St. Louis, and Barbara Raznick, director of the Saul Brodsky Jewish Community Library, is a sequel to First Harvest: Jewish Writing in St. Louis, 1991-1997 and New Harvest: Jewish Writing in St. Louis, 1998-2005 published by the Brodsky Library Press and edited by Schwartz and Raznick. St. Louis is the only community that has published anthologies of work by local Jewish writers.
This anthology is being made possible by donations by dedicated members of the community under the guidance of Maurice (Bud) Hirsch and Robert Kohn.
Winter Harvest will feature writings which enhance and enrich Jewish life, submitted by members of the St. Louis Jewish community, including present and former St. Louisans. The types of works to be included will be fiction, poetry, folklore, life stories, essays, modern midrashim and art. The deadline for submission is September 30, 2010. The book will be published in the spring of 2011.
