Deadline August 15 | Call for Submissions for Seoul Writers Workshop's 2013 Anthology: 'Up/ Down, Lost/ Found' (Korea)
Deadline: 15 August 2012

Seoul Writers Workshop is accepting submission for the 5th annual anthology. The theme of Anthology 2013 is Up/Down, Lost/Found. These can be stories, essays, and poems about contrasts, the highs and the lows, discoveries and disappearances, or your own interpretation. Get writing and be a part of our landmark publication!

ELIGIBILITY: Submissions will be accepted from English-language writers who have lived in Korea for any length of time since 2010. Current residency in Seoul or membership in Seoul Writers Workshop are not necessary.

SUBMISSIONS: We are looking for short fiction, creative non-fiction, and poetry pieces that interpret the theme Up/Down, Lost/Found. Submissions should be emailed to seoulwriters@gmail.com with the subject line “2013 Prose Submission” or “2013 Poetry Submission” by August 15th. Emails without that subject line may be missed and inadvertently not included in our consideration. Submissions must be attached as a Word .doc/.docx, .txt, .rtf, or .pdf file. Any submissions not in one of these formats will not be considered. PDF files should not be locked or protected. The attached file’s name should be the same as the piece’s title to help avoid confusion. Please indicate how you wish your name to appear if your piece is selected for inclusion.

Pieces should be original, unpublished work. Previously submitted works are acceptable. We strongly suggest that authors do not submit first drafts. Seoul Writers Workshop assumes first-publication rights to selected pieces, to include printing in Seoul, South Korea and in the print-on-demand edition via online retailers, and electronic format. All other rights, including subsequent publication, are retained by the submitting author

Simultaneous submissions are acceptable. Please contact SWW via email immediately if a submission is accepted by another publication. Authors will be notified in late September if their pieces have been chosen for inclusion. Selected authors will receive two free copies of Anthology 2013 Up/Down, Lost/Found and may purchase additional copies at a discounted price.

Prose: Short story or creative non-fiction pieces of up to 5000 words will be considered. Authors may submit up to 3 pieces for consideration.

Poetry: Any number of pieces not exceeding 3000 words in total will be accepted. Please keep in mind that our printed page is trade paperback size; long lines may fit awkwardly.

Proceeds from Anthology 2013 Up/Down, Lost/Found will benefit the Korea Sexual Violence Relief Center or other charity partners that may be selected.

Seoul Writers Workshop holds critiquing workshops on the 2nd and 4th Saturdays of each month, and a poetry/lyrics workshop on the 4th Sunday of the month. Visit our Facebook page for details.
