Announcing the third edition of The Hindu Literary Prize. The Prize, instituted to recognize the best in Indian fiction in English published every year, invites submissions from publishers for the year 2012.
HOW TO ENTER
ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA
The Prize consists of Rs. 5 lakhs in cash and a citation. The entries will be assessed by an independent panel of judges comprising critics and authors. A shortlist will be announced at our literary conclave Lit for Life in Delhi. The Prize will be given away at the Lit for Life celebrations in Chennai.

HOW TO ENTER
- Publishers can submit Indian fiction in English published between July 2011 and June 2012.
- Publishers with more than one imprint can submit books from each imprint.
- Publishers must send six copies of each book. Only hard copies will be allowed.
- Electronic copies will not be accepted.
- All entries must reach The Hindu on or before August 15, 2012.

ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA
- The author must be an Indian citizen or domiciled resident of India or an NRI holding a valid Indian passport. It is the publisher's responsibility to verify this before submitting the book for consideration.
- Only original works in English will be eligible. Works in Indian languages and translations are not eligible.
- Entries must be in prose and can be full-length novels or a collection of short stories by a single author.
- Self-published or electronically published books will not be accepted.
- Children's fiction and teenage fiction will not be eligible.
- Books of authors who are on the panel of judges will not be considered.
- Employees of The Hindu and their family members cannot participate.
