The Digital Comic Association, in collaboration with Project to Construct a Media Arts Information Base / Consortium (Agency for Cultural Affairs, Japan) and JManga, are proud to present the world's first official manga translation contest, Manga Translation Battle 2012. Pros and amateurs alike, everyone is eligible and welcome to participate.

The Grand Winner will win a trip to Japan and will be awarded a grant as the professional translator. Runners-up will win new iPads.

Application period is from July 26th to September 26th, 2012 (PST), and winners will be announced in November 2012.

HOW TO ENTER
  • Select the title you would like to translate. All titles can be read below. Flash is required
  • Download the official Submission Format here.
  • Submit your text translation using the official Submission Format via the uploader here or by email to mtb2012@jmanga.com. For file types, doc, xls, pdf, txt and rtf are acceptable as long as you keep the same format as the official Submission Format.
Translate the below titles until a page notifying you to "STOP" translating is displayed in the viewer, but feel free to read the rest of each volume for free for your reference and enjoyment.
  • COPPELION, created by Tomonori Inoue: translate pages 2 - 39
  • Chocolate Cosmos, Created by Nana Haruta: translate pages 8 - 50
  • Shindo, Created by Akira Saso: translate pages 6 - 25
Japanese to English translation only. No type-setting is required.
