Random House, Inc. is the world's largest general trade book publisher. It is a division of Bertelsmann AG, one of the foremost media companies in the world.

YOUR TASKS:

Random House Publisher Services is seeking a talented manga editor to help us publish 80-90 titles per year on behalf of our client, Kodansha Comics. The candidate should have a strong familiarity with comics and/or manga, excellent written and oral communication skills, and the ability to work independently and with a team, take initiative, and multitask on a daily basis.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:

** Hire translators, adaptors and freelance editors
** Edit the manuscript
** Deliver manuscript and page plan ready to go to production
** Review proofs
** Traffic materials to/from licensors and freelancers
** Clear approvals with Kodansha
** Set up freelancers in internal database, process invoices
** Coordinate schedules with the editorial and production staff
** Issue contracts to freelancers
** Process invoices
** Ensures that all deadlines are being met and maintained for 90 books per year
** Handle queries from freelance/production
** Assist in new title review and acquisition
** Write cover copy

REQUIREMENTS: Education: 4 Year Degree

Experience: 2-5 Years

The candidate also must be able to read Japanese.

As well as being detail oriented, organized, and able to meet short- and long-term schedules. Experience with Illustrator, InDesign, and Photoshop is helpful, but not required.
