THE IMPORTANCE OF MEMORY IN WRITING POETRY
Event 813 Friday 9 March 15:30-17:30Al Rimal 1, InterContinental HotelDaljit Nagra will take you on a journey through some of the best contemporary poetry and the role played in its creation by personal experience, and show how we can use memory to help create exciting poems. Students will be set intriguing writing exercises to help them access their personal store of memories and explore their domestic and cultural background.
This promises to be a lively session, which will inspire students with a passion for writing poetry and give existing writers a new perspective on this most intimate of creative endeavours.
ABOUT THE TUTOR
Daljit Nagra was born and brought up in England. He teaches English at a London secondary school. His first collection, Look We Have Coming to Dover!, which relates to the experience of British-born Indians, won several awards including the 2007 Forward Poetry Prize.
