Applicants should be ambitious and able to take ownership of a GulfNews.com channel and make it the ultimate destination for that sector on the Web. That will require the ability to be both hands on to keep the GulfNews.com site relevant, fresh and enticing, while maintaining an overview of their channel with rolling plans to maintain its place as the Middle East's most attractive business, news, or entertainment destination.
You will be a highly experienced journalist, with a solid knowledge of online journalism and the principles of writing for the web. You will be able to work with journalists across GulfNews.com and use your influencing skills to promote Web first copy. Your headline and news writing will be unsurpassed - as will be the ability to extract the angle of a story the GulfNews.com audience is most interested in.
Web Editors will work closely with the Gulf News copy desk and Hub to ensure that stories originating from the print edition appear online in a timely manner, and that they get the appropriate level of visibility on the site.
We are particularly interested in news editors with specialisms in business, general news, sport and entertainment.
SKILLS
GulfNews.com is an English language Web site. An understanding of written and spoken Arabic would be an advantage but is not essential.
