Maisha Scriptwriting Lab at the Doha Film Institute

25 July 2011
Maisha Scriptwriting Lab at the Doha Film Institute
Deadline: 15 August 2011

You have heard us talking about Maisha for some time now; we’ve been sending students to Zanzibar and Uganda for the past year to participate in intensive film labs. In the second year of collaboration with Maisha, DFI have decided to bring Maisha to you!

This year, DFI will be hosting a Maisha Lab in Doha for resident screenwriters. The Screenwriters Lab gives independent screenwriters the opportunity to work intensively on their scripts with the support of established writers in an environment that encourages innovation and creative risk taking. Maisha mentors will challenge, and inspire the screenwriters during this intensive process of script development.

If you have a short 7 – 10 page script and want to learn how to develop it further, then this is the workshop for you.

Students will work all day on their scripts, have one on one sessions with mentors, group training, private time to write and in the evenings the group will watch and discuss films. *This workshop will require full commitment. Failure to attend one day of the workshop will mean you won’t be able to complete the lab.

In order to be eligible for this workshop you must have a 7 – 10 page script.
