We are seeking a Korean Editor to join the CNNGo.com Seoul editorial team. We are looking for a self-motivated, enthusiastic and reliable individual whose primary responsibility will be overseeing the Korean/English translations component for this new section of the groundbreaking travel/lifestyle CNNGo.com site. Additional responsibilities include complementing the site with local language editorial output.
You must be driven by new online technologies, languages and the desire to bring local language stories to a major media site.
Responsibilities include:
* Liaising with our translations partners, development and editorial
* Reviewing translations and ensuring factual accuracy as well as consistency of style, tone and voice
* Publishing translated pieces through our CMS
* Identifying local language stories, sitesm contributors and personalities for editorial
* Writing local language stories
* Working closely with the Seoul City Editor
* Researching, securing, editing of images
*Please note: The candidate will rarely have to perform the translations, instead review translations carried out by a third party from English into the local language. There will be occasions when the Korean Editor will need to perform the translations.
Requirements include:
* University education (Journalism/Media/Languages preferred)
* Terrific English and Korean skills (written and oral). Must show demonstrated abilities with both languages
* Must show initiative, be creative and self-motivated, able to handle a large project
* A willingness and desire to create original content
* Understanding and knowledge of online sites and resources
* A desire to work in online media
* A passion for the local culture and the broader world and the experience it brings
