CNNGo – a new travel/lifestyle website and television program run jointly by CNN and Turner Broadcasting is seeking a City Editor in Seoul to launch, oversee and manage an expansion of the brand into South Korea.
We require a passionate, savvy journalist that will need to produce the Seoul section of the website in coordination with a Korean language editor -- writing/editing/producing content, finding and managing a stable of freelancers and able to identify and deliver exciting content to our local and international audience – among other tasks.
This position requires a certain individual that can work independently yet in close coordination with the Hong Kong-based editorial CNNGo lead. The ideal candidate has a network of contacts, can manage a stable of contributors and draws inspiration from the city around them.
He or she will be a creative, have a strong writing/reporting/editing/journalism background, can source his/her own inspiration, and ideally have demonstrated knowledge and action with CMS interfaces and social media technologies. He/she will need to be knowledgeable or able to adapt to U.S. English/AP style, which CNN and CNNGo uses.
There will be a lot of editing required, substantial original writing, a lot of communication with a network of sourced contributors and initially a great deal of work to launch the new section of the site. The ideal candidate will be able to find, source and deliver attractive content on a global platform about Seoul, its surrounds, and the people and places that create its character. Obviously, the City Editor will need to be extremely knowledgeable about Seoul and your application needs to address this point.
Responsibilities include:
* Manage day to day content, layout and site production
* Source and manage contributors and content flow in coordination with Hong Kong-based editorial lead
* Multiple daily content updates
* Develop ideas, themes, content/Sales projects utilizing all delivery methods possible (blogs, video and other AV means etc)
* Photo research, editing/manipulation
* Extensive editing and writing
Requirements include:
* Sick of clichéd travel and lifestyle products
* College degree and a 3-5 year experience in journalism/reporting. Additional experience in new media or the travel industry could be advantageous.
* Blogging experience highly valued
* Highly organized and inspirational
* Capable of managing a group of writers and a corresponding budget
* Knowledgeable about traffic analytics
* Photoshop and CMS experience
* In tune with the city.
