Description
The Sr Editor will oversee the day-to-day management of the office, actual page production of the magazine, editorial and photography needs, and the editing process and closings. This person maintains calendars and schedules to meet the magazine’s deadlines and ensures smooth and constant communication between all departments. S/he is also responsible for establishing an editorial system and work with assistant editors and copy editors to plan all deadlines. S/he will be commissioning and editing articles in line with the editorial mission of the magazine, will scout new writers, discuss new ideas for stories, commission the writers, and have the articles edited once they have been received. S/he will manage a team of copy editors and designers to produce the magazine and also under the guidance of the Editor, give shape and implement the editorial mission of the magazine.
Requirement
• An ideal candidate will have the ability to ideate and develop content for women readers, take up issues that concern them, and play an important role in keeping the magazine relevant for its readers
• Experience in the successful management of editorial content, workflow and staff of a magazine, newspaper section/ supplement
• We can also consider candidates who have relevant experience in TV channels or production houses where in they were involved in creating content and ideas targeted at women and families.
• A drive and desire to succeed in profitably producing ''media that matters''
• Good professional leadership and editorial management skills, with the ability to delegate creative and editorial work to subordinates and have quality work done
• A good understanding of magazine/ newspaper production process
The position requires a proven record of work in an editorial setup, whether magazine, newspaper or even books.
Experience
Minimum 5 years editorial experience with at least some years in an IT related publication.
