The job is a combination of editorial and marketing; the goal is to optimise the websites across Arabia’s2 online brands, Nickelodeon and MTV, increasing traffic and sales through compelling content. This role will contribute to the Digital Media team’s content ideas, and contribute digital media ideas to the commercial and programming teams in Arabia, supporting both the music, and kids and family brands. S/he will create short form packages (for mobile and online platforms) that promote linear content and drive usage on the platforms. The role is broader than just writing copy, and also include leading projects and bringing a brand to life online and on mobile.
REPORTING STRUCTURE
Liaison: The DM Editor will work individually and as part of a team, especially with the TV programming and operations teams in Arabia and the DM teams in London and Warsaw to maximise the audiences.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Responsible for daily maintenance and programme scheduling across MTVN Arabia channel websites and local social media pages (ie facebook, twitter, etc).
Creating content and copy for the websites and in-line with the strategy and optimisation of the user experience and usage.
Upload content (video and editorial) to site Content Management Systems.
Create and maintain the content digital media roadmap for MTVN Arabia.
Publish content live to sites according to defined International and local market timelines/priorities.
Report/Track online statistics across various local sites.
Edit long-form local content into short-form versions for distribution on digital media platforms.
Prepare creative briefs and manage and implement digital media content projects.
Archive edited DM content to ensure all materials are readily available when required.
Content management of Arabia’s websites, Search Engine Optimisation, moderation of Web 2.0 functions on the EM’s digital properties.
Support the technical teams in implementing updates to the websites.
Assist third parties in applying digital guidelines to their properties.
Maintain close relationship and cooperation with MTVN Arabia teams regarding content priorities and linear TV schedules.
Perform other duties as requested by the DM Content Manager (London) and the brand/channel head (Arabia)
Draft content guidelines for the DM environment, including creating internal regulation guidelines
ROLE-SPECIFIC SKILLS/ATTRIBUTES
• Experience of digital media, specifically online site management and production.
• Experience editing digital media content and preparing scripts for language reversioning.
• Experience of drafting and applying content guidelines, specifically in-line with local laws and cultures.
• Experience working with CMS.
• Experience using graphic software, specifically proven Photoshop editing abilities.
• Understanding of viral marketing, web 2.0, RSS, twitter and other social networking tools to ensure widest possible audience.
• Experience of writing copy for specific brand styles
• Expert knowledge of content/media regulation in Arabia.
• Technically able, proven Final Cut Pro editing abilities.
• Knowledge and understanding of SEO and relevant tools.
• Knowledge and understanding of endocing, transcoding, formatting, production software.
• Demonstrated knowledge of MTV and/or Nickelodeon brands preferred
• Strong communication skills and fluency in English and Arabic
• Demonstrated creative and lateral thinking ability.
