Jacob Sam-La Rose is running an all-day workshop on Saturday 23 April, 10am – 4pm at the Arts House. It will be followed by a performance by Jacob at 7pm, featuring two workshop participants and two local poets – Pooja Nansi and Marc Nair.
Writing and the Web with Jacob Sam-La Rose presented by the British Council and Books Actually, Wednesday 20 April 2011, 7.30pm – 9.30pm at Books Actually, No. 9 Yong Siak Street, Tiong Bahru. It’s hardly a new frontier, but the World Wide Web is changing, constantly, and new technology brings new challenges and new ways of working. Through this workshop, we’ll explore and challenge the way you present yourself online, looking at how you can put your web presence to work, and the kind of impact web technology can have on the way you get your writing done.
NOTE: Participants will be required to bring their own laptop to the workshop.
Poetry Masterclass: Finding a Fresh Perspective with Jacob Sam-La Rose presented by the British Council and World Voices at The Arts House, Saturday 23 April 2011, 10am – 4pm at The Arts House. Cost: S$95 (or S$85 if you also sign up for the ‘Writing the the Web’ event, above). Level: Intermediate. Places: 12-15 writers. Calling all poets. We’ll be examining and challenging your process from start to finish, working from initial entry points and stimulus for generating first drafts, through development and redrafting, to techniques for sharing poems with an audience. At the end of the day, Jacob will select two participants to join him and two other guest artists for a public reading, following the day’s work.
