An award-winning Middle East business website, is looking for a reporter. Based in Beirut, the job involves writing news, features and blogs on a broad range of regional business issues, with a specific focus on the Gulf. The diverse range of topics covered by the website demands that its reporters are equally comfortable writing about celebrity endorsements and the ‘human’ side of business as they are covering complex financial issues. Reporters generally write 1000-1500 words daily, as well as keeping a constant eye on the news, originating story ideas, and fact-checking articles. They need to collaborate with team members both locally and regionally, and be willing to put in extra hours when required.
The journalist position will require writing English-language features and analysis pieces on current events in the Levant and across the Middle East and North Africa on a daily basis. It's also a role that will extend into the social media sphere, helping build the site's social media reputation. Features will be written with the idea that the website is geared towards middle management executives and caters to aspirational concepts about business, lifestyle and society. The site has a particularly irreverent tone of voice that allows the title to be borderline critical of events happening around the region while still keeping within the regulations of regional media.
Skills
- Good command of English and versatile writing skills are mandatory.
- Knowledge of Photoshop and Word Press is a plus.
- Holds a degree or is trained in journalism.
- Experience is a plus but entry-level is acceptable.
- Has an understanding of social media reputation management and engagement in order to be able to help in creating KippReport's social media community across the region.
Gross Salary: USD 9,600-12,000/- per year (based on experience) plus health insurance.
