Description

Thomson Reuters is seeking talent with a mix of cutting-edge skills - understanding of financial markets, social media and journalism - to join a project that will combine analytical insight with Reuters News on a premier platform for the region's real-time investment community. First and foremost, we're looking for a confident communicator who can moderate debates - online or in person - and bring insight to a community of traders and market participants who are not only looking for news, but trading ideas and access to other decision makers. Have you built up a Twitter following? We're looking for someone who not only uses social media, but understands it as a powerful tool for building communities and exchanging information. Can you start an online conversation and keep it going? Do you naturally share information?

Strong writing skills are a key requirement for commenting on and interpreting market events. Sound judgment will also be key to selecting top stories from Reuters Middle East correspondents and moderating discussions in a chat room with participants. The candidate will need to demonstrate critical thinking in keeping with Reuters editorial standards and provide thought leadership on events as diverse as elections, company results or interest rate moves. We are looking for a candidate who can work under pressure with a diverse team, forge relationships with news sources and clients, and bring new ideas to shape and drive the project.

Required skills:

• Experience in the financial or investment industries, or financial journalism
• A multi-tasker who can juggle the demands of a live chatroom, private conversations with members, forward event planning and website updating
• Deep knowledge of investment strategy or financial analysis
• Good writing and multimedia presentation skills
• Experience with web production and presentation, blogging or social media a plus
• Willingness to work long hours; team skills paramount

Desired skills:

• Arabic an advantage
