Deadline: 4 February 2011
Senior journalists and their editors in Asia seeking to improve coverage of tragic events are invited to apply for the 2011 Dart Asia Fellowships. Deadline for entries is Feb. 4, 2011.
Online applications are now being accepted for the 2011 Dart Asia Fellowships, a unique seminar programme for senior journalists based in Asia and their editors who want to deepen their knowledge of emotional trauma and improve coverage of violence, conflict and tragedy.
Please help us spread the word. The deadline for applications is Feb. 4, 2011.
Fellowship Description
Reporting responsibly and credibly on violence and traumatic events — on street crime, family violence, natural disasters and accidents, civil unrest, war and genocide — are among the greatest challenges facing journalists globally. To address these challenges, Dart Centre Australasia invites journalists and their editors to apply for the 2011 Dart Asia Fellowship programme.
Dart Centre Australasia will provide expense-paid fellowships to journalists and their editors who want to apply knowledge of emotional trauma to improving coverage of violent events. (Visas and insurance are the responsibility of the applicants.)
Each journalist/editor team will attend a seven-day seminar programme in Bangkok, Thailand, April 10-17 2011, featuring briefings by leading experts in the trauma field and discussions with colleagues about covering tragedy and violence. The fellowship covers all travel and ground expenses while attending the program. Insurance, visa applications and related costs, however, are the responsibility of the applicant.
Who Can Be A Fellow
Fellowships are open to print, broadcast and online reporters, photographers, editors and producers with at least five years’ full-time journalism experience.
Applicants must possess a strong command of the English language, as all presentations will be made in English.
Only one application from journalist/editor team will be accepted from each news organisation.
Direct all e-mail queries to australasia@dartcentre.org.
