The Washington-based Institute for Palestine Studies (IPS) is looking for a mid- to senior level editor to join the team of its flagship, the Journal of Palestine Studies , an independent, scholarly quarterly published with University of California Press at Berkeley.
The successful candidate will have solid, in-depth knowledge of Palestine and the history of the Arab-Israeli conflict; significant editorial experience; the ability to assess the quality and relevance of manuscript submissions; demonstrated organizational, multi-tasking, and prioritizing skills to manage work and manuscript flows; and the ability to work well and accurately under pressure. S/he will be meticulous, reliable, motivated, flexible, highly organized, and have sound political/editorial judgment and the ability to manage networks of contributors across the U.S. and internationally.
Good communication and coordination skills also required for close followup with the editorial committee. Advanced degree preferred, knowledge of Arabic an advantage.
Salary commensurate with experience; excellent benefits package; room for advancement. Relocation expenses to Washington are not covered.
