Paid Journalism Internship at Alternative Information Center (joint Palestinian-Israeli Organization)
The Alternative Information Center (AIC), a joint Palestinian-Israeli organization engaged in dissemination of information, political advocacy, grassroots activism and critical analysis, has an opening for a Journalist Intern.

Responsibilities

* Research (using primary and secondary sources) ongoing developments in Palestinian and Israeli societies, with special emphases on manifestations of Israeli occupation policies in Jerusalem and the West Bank and Palestinian-Israeli grassroots resistance and struggle;
* Writing news articles, analytical pieces and press releases on socio-political, economic and cultural developments in Palestinian and Israeli societies;
* Editing (linguistic and content) articles written for AIC website;
* Assist in other aspects of information production by the AIC;

Person Specifications

* Commitment to AIC values and joint Palestinian-Israeli-international work;
* Outstanding research and writing skills, experience in researching and writing for news sources and public news outlets;
* Positive communication and interpersonal skills, comfortable working with a wide variety of people from throughout the world;
* Ability to work toward challenging deadlines and appropriately manage the stresses of living in a conflict zone;
* Highly motivated and with a sense of humour;
* Minimum commitment: three months, with a possibility to extend the internship for an additional three months.

Location and hours: This internship position is 35 hours weekly and can be based in either the Beit Sahour or Jerusalem office of the AIC. Hours are flexible and will be determined together with the candidate. The intern will be under the direct guidance and supervision of the AIC Executive Director.

Remuneration: An internship stipend is paid monthly.

Position to begin as of January 2011.
