We've had a passion for the written word since 1982, when under the continued guidance and patronage of His Highness Dr. Sheikh Sultan bin Mohammad Al Qasimi, the UAE Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah; The Department of Culture & Information, wrote the first chapter of The Sharjah International Book Fair.
This 10-day annual event now draws a total of 750 publishers showcasing books from nearly 42 nations, and attracts over 400,000 GCC visitors.
We have acquired the Sharjah International Book Fair a worldwide reputation, and became effective a source of pride for the people of the United Arab Emirates
The prime aim is to promote reading habit among the people, mainly the youngsters by making quality books available to them at affordable prices.
Sharjah International Book Fair is one of the most prominent cultural activities organized by the Sharjah Department of Culture & Information. The event not only promotes books, authors, reading and publishing industry, but it also appreciates and recognizes the ideological, cultural, artistic and professional programs.

- Best written book about U.A.E by an Emarati author.
- Best written book about U.A.E in the field of studies.
- Best written book about U.A.E in the field of translation and editing.
