UMPIL Elects New Set of Officers

The 38th Congress of the largest alliance of writers in the country, the Unyon ng mga Manunulat sa Pilipinas (UMPIL), was held last August 28, 2010 at the GT Toyota Asian Center Auditorium on UP Diliman campus. The outgoing UMPIL chair, Victor Emmanuel Carmelo Nadera, reported on the organization's activities during his tenure.

The incoming board was elected during the event. Abdon M. Balde, recipient of Carlos Palanca Memorial Award, National Book Award and Premio Tomas Arejola, will be UMPIL's Chairperson for the term 2010-2013. Other personalities elected into the UMPIL Board are:

Chairman: Abdon M. Balde Jr., chairman
Vice-Chair: Karina A. Bolasco, vice chair
Secretary General: Michael M. Coroza, secretary general
Treasurer: Romulo P. Baquiran Jr., treasurer
Auditor: Rebecca T. AƱonuevo, auditor.

UMPIL directorate: Marne Kilates, Mario I. Miclat, Charlson Ong, and Fidel Rillo

Sectoral Representatives: Joaquin Sy for Chinoy writers, and Phillip Kimpo Jr. for LIRA
