Reuters Chinese Language News Service is looking for a senior economics and regulatory analyst in Beijing to strengthen its coverage of the most important stories for our clients across Greater China. China, recovering from the Great Recession thanks in part to Beijing's 4 trillion yuan stimulus plan, is on track to overtake Japan as the world's second largest economy. China's economic indicators and monetary,fiscal and industry policies are closely watched by financial insitutions worldwide as they are having growing impact on the global financial markets. The country is seeking to rebalance its economy by reducing its reliance on export and boosting domestic demand. It has just ditched its nearly two-year old yuan-dollar peg to make its exchange rate more flexibile in face of growing trade tensions with countries like the United States. It has started to exit its expansionay monetary policy to prevent inflation from rising quickly.The successful candidate is required to ensure our Beijing team's coverage of China's macroeconomic indicators and policies are the most competitive in terms speed, accuracy, depth and breadth. He or she is also required to work closely with our international service in Beijing, and the Chinese language service's domestic fixed income and money markets team. The candidate must also be able to lead from the front by breaking stories and writing ahead-of-the-curve analyses under tight deadlines.
Responsibilities
* Running a virtual team of economic and regulatory analysts in Beijing. Ensure our Chinese language economic and regulatory analyses produced by the team is the most competitive in terms of accuracy, speed, depth and breadth.
* Break stories and write ahead-of-the-curve, in-depth analyses with international perspective and closely tied to markets, under tight deadlines
* Work with colleagues to reshapse our news product in line with client need.
* Deepen engagement with our international service, business divisions and clients; Participate in client-facing events and raise our internal and external profile
Qualifications
* At least five-years treasury-related writing experience
* Strong writer who can deliver clean, clear copy to very tight deadlines
* Proven track record of timings wins on major stories
* Passion for breaking market-moving stories
* Strong knowledge about the domestic and overseas financial markets
* Strong news judgment; ability to write with speed, clarity and accuracy
* Leadership skills
