The John K. Fairbank Prize in East Asian History for 2011

The John K. Fairbank Prize in East Asian History is offered annually for an outstanding book in the history of China proper, Vietnam, Chinese Central Asia, Mongolia, Manchuria, Korea, or Japan, substantially after 1800. Only books of high scholarly and literary merit will be considered. Anthologies, edited works, and pamphlets are ineligible for the competition.

Books published after May 1, 2010, and before April 30, 2011 will be eligible for the 2011 prize.

Entries must be postmarked by or on MAY 16, 2011 in order to be eligible for this year's competition. Late entries will not be considered. One copy of each entry must be received by each of the following committee members:

Please Note: The deadline for submission of entries is Monday, May 16, 2011. Entries will not be returned. Recipients will be announced at the January 5-8, 2012 AHA Annual Meeting in Chicago.
