Call for Contributions: Berkeley Student Journal of Asian Studies
Deadline: 30 October 2010

We're pleased to announce a call for contributions to the new Berkeley Student Journal of Asian Studies, an online and print journal project to be published twice yearly by SPASE, Students for the Promotion of Asian Studies and Education, a student group associated with the Group in Asian Studies. We kindly request your help in getting the word out about this new opportunity by forwarding this email to undergraduate and graduate students in your classes.
The first submission deadline is October 30, and papers must be submitted to CALSpase@gmail.com.

The Berkeley Student Journal of Asian Studies will showcase outstanding scholarly and creative work by Berkeley students. The journal, which will be both online and in print, will feature original research, creative work (such as poetry and short stories), and cover art. A student editorial committee will make editorial and publication decisions, and research papers will be reviewed by UC Berkeley faculty members in relevant fields before publication.
This is a terrific new opportunity for both undergraduate and graduate students to get their work published. In addition, selected contributors will be invited to participate in a spring 2011 symposium at which they will present their work to the public.

This effort is sponsored by the Group in Asian Studies (part of the International and Area Studies Teaching Program), and the Berkeley East Asia National Resource Center at the Institute of East Asian Studies. The journal itself will be hosted on the Group in Asian Studies website.

Questions should be directed to Elizabeth Fein at CALSpace@gmail.com.
