“How To Tell Your Story” is a creative writing workshop designed to kindle the story-teller in you. Suitable for both novice and experienced writers, this workshop is open to all genres in fiction and creative non-fiction. Whatever you write, you are telling a story.
The workshop runs on four consecutive Tuesdays in November: November 9, 16, 23, and 30 from 9.30AM to 12.30PM.
In this workshop we will look at the way you tell it. In the sessions we will start with group exercises to trigger your creativity, learn different narrative strategies to develop your story and invent exciting conclusions. There will be ongoing supportive feedback and lots of inspiration. Each participant will also have the opportunity for an individual one on one session with the facilitator.
Taught in four connecting sessions by Anette Pollner, the leader and editor of the Bangkok Women Writer's Group, with the goal to produce a creative story by the workshop's end.
Ms Pollner is the co-author and editor of ‘Bangkok Blondes’ a collection published by the Bangkok Women’s Writers Group in 2007 and still a Thai English language bestseller, and author of ‘Heart of the Desert’, published by Drollerie Press (US) in 2009. She writes a regular column in the Big Chili, and her travel mystery ‘The company of frogs’ was shortlisted for the longbarn first novel prize in the UK. She has been featured as a local author in the Star Malaysia, the Bangkok Trader and the Bangkok Diary, on Thai TV (‘Good Morning Bangkok’) and as a creative role model in a current exhibition at Bumrungrad Hospital. She has just been nominated for an international creative-non fiction award. During her 15 years in London she studied creative writing at the City Lit and City University where she subsequently also taught, as well as at the Arvon Foundation and the Groucho Club and was a regular reader at the Poetry Society. In her ‘first life’ she was a theatre and opera director and has decades of experience in unfolding creativity with other artists of all kinds.
