The Kiplinger Program is offering short-term fellowships designed to help you make better use of new online tools and channels. This is your chance to update your skills and learn cutting edge strategies to reach broad audiences.
In one intensive week, March 9-16, 2011, you’ll learn how to use social media to build a following, develop sources and more effectively cover your beats. We'll talk Twitter, deep web searches, digital footprints, SEO, the backchannel and more (click here to download an initial list of workshop sessions).
Thanks to the strong support of the Kiplinger Foundation, this training will be offered free-of-charge— plus we’ll provide lodging and a travel stipend.
Q. Who is eligible to apply?
If you are a print, broadcast or online journalist with five or more years of experience at a news organization (here or abroad), you are eligible to become a Kip.
Q: Do internships and freelance assignments count toward the required five years of professional experience?
If you worked at least 20 hours a week, you can count internships and freelance work for established media organizations.
Q: When will the fellowship be offered?
The fellowship will be offered March 9-16, 2011. Your editor will have the opportunity to attend our three-day KipCamp (a short course on putting digital media to work in the newsroom) June 16-18, 2011.
