Entries Invited for Pothiz's August 2010 Issue
Entries are invited for the August 2010 Issue of Pothiz - Pothi.com's online Magazine. The inaugural issue of July 2010 is available at http://pothi.com/pothi/magazine/issue/july-2010

What can be submitted? Fiction/Non-fiction/Poetry/Reviews/Other (experimental) forms aimed at a general reader. Basically a piece whose audience is not too niche. Short Story is good. Long story is good too. An interview with an astrophysicist is good and so is an article talking about astrophysics as a career. An article about various theories around black holes is unlikely to make into the magazine though (too niche). Book/Movie/Product Reviews are also welcome.

The entry should be written by you and/or you should have the right to submit it for publishing in the magazine.

Who can submit entries? Preference will be given to Indian writing, although magazine is open to everyone.

What is the deadline? July 16th 2010

How to submit? Through the submission form.

Which languages can the entries be submitted in? Currently English and Hindi (No discrimination against other languages. Just that right now we can't put editorial resources for all the languages). Hindi content should be typed in a Unicode compatible font. We can not handle hand-written entries at this stage.

What is the incentive? You don't get to become rich with this. But one entry selected as "Featured Entry" will receive Pothi.com Store coupon worth Rs. 250.

Will all submitted entries get into the magazine? No. The entries will be selected and edited. Top ones will go in the issue. If there are more good entries, we may create a section on the website for "Other Entries" and put them up there.

What will be the criteria of inclusion? There is no preset criteria. Feel free to get creative, to experiment with forms and language so long as they serve a purpose. e.g. Hinglish is cool if it introduces an element of fun, or if it makes dialogs look realistic, or does something else to make your piece a compelling read. It is not cool if it is simply a by-product of bad English and bad Hindi! You get the idea?

Will the magazine be printed? No - at least not for now. It will be an online magazine available on Pothi.com. We may put it up in some downloadable forms like pdf/e-pub.

Whom will the magazine reach? To 2000+ people from our subscriber base and to more people through our website, blog, twitter, facebook etc.

Why the magazine? To bring together quality content from contemporary writing for everyone to read!

The fine prints? You keep the copyright for the submitted entries. You can publish it elsewhere and do anything with it that you like.

By submitting the entry, you grant Pothi.com the perpetual license to use the content (as it is, edited, converted or translated) in any medium for non-commercial or commercial activities.
